On Friday 23rd February we hosted a Positive Play Day. This was facilitated by Therese Hoyle, an educational consultant who supports schools nationally and internationally on topics such as positive play and social and emotional learning. On the day, we played host to colleagues from 8 local mainstream schools who came to get some ideas and learn about improving playtimes for children.
The evaluations were excellent and included:
'The entire day has been very edifying, not to mention brilliant. I am more motivated to introduce different games on the playground'
'Was interesting and learnt new types of play to engage children'
'It was useful to know the reasons play is needed and that we were given practical advice and examples to implement in school'
At Haywood Grove we now have an action plan to improve our play provision further.
